Redstone Commodity Search are working with the recyclable metals trading arm of an international commodities trade group. This presents an exciting opportunity for a nonferrous/ferrous scrap trader to join and contribute to the next phase of our clients US expansion.
Key Responsibilities / Tasks
- Develop and execute trading strategies to maximize profitability in the buying and selling of scrap metals within the Eastern US markets.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with suppliers, including scrap yards, manufacturers, demolition companies, and recycling facilities, to ensure a consistent and reliable supply of scrap metal materials.
- Actively seek out new business opportunities and negotiate favourable terms and pricing with both suppliers and buyers.
- Monitor market trends, industry news, and regulatory developments to stay informed of changes that may impact the scrap metal market.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including operations, finance, and risk management, to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Key Qualifications / Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in scrap metal trading, with a proven track record of procuring scrap tonnage in the Eastern US markets.
- Strong knowledge of the scrap metal industry, including market dynamics, pricing mechanisms, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in steel, copper, aluminum, zinc, brass, lead, alloys, or related recyclable scrap materials is welcome.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and buyers.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced and competitive environment, with a focus on achieving targets and meeting deadlines.
