Redstone Commodity Search are working with an international Agricultural / Soft Commodity Trading House looking to hire a Junior Trade Accountant to be based in London.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Trade Accountants with daily and monthly activities across the soft commodities trading desk, including P&L preparation, cash accounting, reconciliations and journal entries.
- Liaise with the offshore accounting team to review and approve daily work, escalating issues where necessary.
- Contribute to process improvement by identifying inefficiencies and proposing automation or system enhancements.
- Assist in implementing standardised procedures and internal controls to strengthen accuracy, transparency and audit readiness.
- Respond to ad hoc requests from trading, shipping and broader finance teams while supporting cyclical activities such as cash-flow forecasting, FX exposure and system upgrades.
Requirements
- Newly qualified Accountant with at least 2 years of experience working in a financial industry / commodities space, strong technical accounting skills and a desire to build experience in commodity trading.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical mindset and strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
- Confident communicator with a collaborative approach and strong team ethic.
- Advanced Excel skills essential; experience with Navision, Cognos or similar systems advantageous.
