Redstone Commodity Search is working with an international steel trading firm seeking to hire a Senior Steel Trader to expand and lead their commercial activities across European markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute trading strategies for a diverse portfolio of steel products (e.g., flat steel, long products, semi-finished) with full P&L accountability.
- Originate, negotiate, and manage physical steel transactions with mills, distributors, service centres, and end-users throughout Europe.
- Identify and capitalize on market opportunities, including arbitrage, structured deals, and long-term contracts to grow trading volumes and margins.
- Manage risk exposure through effective hedging strategies and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with logistics, operations, and finance teams to ensure efficient contract execution and optimize overall trading performance.
Key Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in physical steel trading with a demonstrable track record of profitability and business development.
- Established commercial network within the European steel markets across producers, consumers, and service providers.
- Deep knowledge of supply chains, pricing dynamics, and logistics specific to steel products.
- Strong background in risk management, hedging, and structured transactions.
- Excellent negotiation skills, entrepreneurial mindset, and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
