Redstone Commodity Search are working with an Agricultural Trading firm to hire an exceptional plant manager into their Montana location to manager and oversee operations.

Key Qualifications / Experience

  • Industry Experience: Demonstrated experience in grain commodity industry, with a strong understanding of grain procurement, ideally within the Montana marketplace.
  • Logistics Expertise: Proven ability in logistics methods and procedures to optimize operational efficiency and streamline processes.
  • Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to motivate teams and effectively communicate across various departments.
  • Strategic Problem Solver: A decisive problem solver with a solution-focused approach and a knack for multitasking.
  • Budget Management: Proficiency in managing budgets, cost control, and overseeing operations within established financial parameters.

Key Responsibilities / Tasks

  1. Plant Operations Strategy:
  • Develop and execute an operation and labour strategy to achieve agreed-upon volumes with the Trading Manager.
  • Prepare and manage operating budgets, ensuring cost control measures are implemented.
  • Coordinate with teams to optimize daily operations and prioritize tasks for efficiency.
  1. Maintenance & Safety Oversight:
  • Collaborate with maintenance and contractors to schedule repairs and identify areas for operational enhancement.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols, investigating incidents and implementing controls to mitigate risks to personnel and equipment.
  1. Quality Control Management:
  • Liaise with external inspection bodies to maintain alignment on grading standards.
  • Oversee quality control protocols during purchasing, cleaning, and loading processes.
  • Handle discrepancies in quality claims and ensure swift resolution and payment settlements.
  1. Procurement & Execution:
  • Maintain communication with growers, managing prices, crop prospects, and databases for effective procurement.
  • Execute purchasing strategies in line with company directives and communicate logistics positions across departments.
  1. Accounts & Team Management:
  • Manage procurement contracts, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with specifications.
  • Collaborate with HR for staffing, performance assessment, and fostering a cohesive team culture.
  • Coordinate with various teams for scheduling deliveries, meeting shipping requirements, and managing contract positions effectively.
