Redstone Commodity Search are working with a global metals trading firm looking to hire a senior base metals trader to head their new commercial team in Europe.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and execute the trading strategy for base metals (e.g., copper, aluminium, zinc, nickel), with full P&L accountability.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of traders, analysts, and operators to achieve commercial targets.
- Drive business growth by developing new supply and customer relationships, expanding trading flows, and identifying market opportunities.
- Oversee risk exposure, ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory frameworks, and implement robust hedging strategies.
- Collaborate closely with operations, finance, logistics, and senior management to optimise trading performance and support broader business objectives.
Key Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in physical trading of base metals, with demonstrable commercial success.
- Proven experience managing and developing trading teams in a dynamic, performance-driven environment.
- Deep understanding of European and global base metals markets, supply chains, pricing dynamics, and customer networks.
- Strong background in risk management, including hedging, credit exposure, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent negotiation skills, analytical mindset, and the ability to identify and capitalise on profitable trading opportunities.
