Redstone Commodity Search are working with a global agricultural trading business looking for an experienced Credit Risk Officer to take ownership of credit risk oversight across global operations – based in Cape Town, SA
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and enhance credit risk governance frameworks, ensuring they are effective, up to date, and adhered to across jurisdictions.
- Track and analyse global credit exposures, producing regular reporting and commentary on emerging risks and mitigation approaches.
- Lead the preparation of weekly credit ageing reports with analysis on key exposures and action plans for resolution.
- Review and monitor adherence to agreed sales terms to flag any non-compliance or risks.
- Act as a strategic partner to internal stakeholders, advising on credit risk within the context of commercial decision-making.
- Supervise the counterparty review and acceptance process, ensuring accurate onboarding and maintenance of master data.
- Structure and recommend credit risk solutions tailored to specific customer or country risks.
- Assess geopolitical and macroeconomic factors influencing country risk and support associated reporting.
- Oversee credit insurance programmes and manage relationships with underwriters and service providers to maximise coverage efficiency.
Candidate Profile:
- At least 5 years’ global hands-on experience in credit risk management, preferably within trading, finance, or commodities sectors.
- Strong communicator with the ability to build rapport across business functions and present clearly to senior stakeholders.
- Confident in commercial negotiations involving credit structures and risk mitigation.
- Proven team leadership experience and a collaborative mindset.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office tools (particularly Excel and PowerPoint), with an interest in automation or data analytics tools a plus.
- Able to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work to deadlines.
- Fluency in English is essential; additional language skills (French or Spanish) would be advantageous.
